If I switch to another ReMax agent will the new agent know that I first worked with a different agent?

My current agent (Remax) is not working good for me. I'd like to change to a new agent (also Remax). Will they know? I am talking about buyers agent here. and i haven't signed any contract.

  1. They will. Especially if they work in the same office. But if the first agent didn't work that well, then it their fault so i wouldn't care what the first agent thought. MY ADVICE?- don't go with a friend that is in real estate to sell your house. I did this same thing a couple of months ago. I didn't work out.
  2. Yes they will know. the BEST way to handle this is to talk to your current agent directly. If you have already signed a contract with them as your agent, then you may need to speak with their Broker In Charge at RE/MAX. However, what you need to tell your agent is that he/she is NOT working out for you and that you have decided to switch agents.
  3. What I suggest you do first is contact your agent and give them the opportunity to correct whatever it is you are unhappy with. It's fair. If after 7 days you still feel the same, then I would put a call into the Broker and let them know you want to change agents. It's ok, sometimes we just don't connect with some people. But to anwser your question, they will find out if nothing else by checking the mls for your listing.
  4. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, if you have a written agreement with the agent (An Exclusive Buyer/Brokerage Agreement, or an Exclusive Right to Sell Listing Agreement), you will need to (depending on the terms of the contract) 'fire' the agent by sending a letter to his broker, or asking the broker to assign another agent. But, this is not a time to worry about your agents' feelings! If you are not satisfied it is your right to work with someone who can handle your needs. If you do have a contract, it is important that you dissolve it properly. If you don't it is possible that you would have to pay your old agents' commission outside of the proceeds of the sale.
  5. You need to make the decision based on what is right for you. If your agent is doing a bad job, you should find a way to let him/her know. Maybe even say something to their broker!
